Bodegas Viñatigo bets with this experience, for the knowledge of the Canarian viticulture only means to know our wines.

Bodegas Viñátigo has celebrated the sixth edition of the Master Class of Cata of Grapes and Wines of the Canary Islands, an initiative already consolidated in the winery, which has been as usual with an excellent reception by professionals in the hospitality industry, the restoration and vitivinícola sector assistants to the same one.

More than fifty of these professionals were able to deepen in the rich viticultural heritage of the Archipelago and in the singularities of a unique varietal heritage in the world.

The technique used has been the Berry Sensory Assessment (BSA), a sensory and descriptive analysis system created from the contributions of J. Rousseau and Deltail of the Institut Coopèratif de Montpellier (France), which has demonstrated its usefulness and effectiveness in this kind of experiences.

Using this method, the assistants to the Master Class have been able to learn to taste the grapes, to know their qualities and to compare the characteristics of the grapes with the wines obtained from all of them.

The Technical Director and Winemaker of Bodegas Viñátigo, Juan Jesús Méndez, was in charge of the tasting, an experience that in his opinion will allow the attending professionals “to know our grapes to understand our wines“. For Méndez Siverio, “the variety, together with the influence exerted on it by the soil, the climate and the hand of man, make up the whole wine that we will obtain“.
